Under the “Law on Voluntary Work,” the necessary legal mechanisms for engaging in voluntary work are established, contributing to the development of the institution of volunteering, the creation of a culture of mutual assistance in society, and the development of a self-organized and civically active society.

The Law “On Making Amendments to the Labor Code of the Republic of Armenia” establishes regulations on remote work and introduces flexible and modern mechanisms for regulating labor relations.

Accordingly, clear and flexible procedures for organizing work are being introduced, providing employers and employees with options for organizing work under conditions no less favorable than those applicable to work at fixed workplaces, while ensuring compliance with the labor rights and guarantees established for employees.

The Social Package is available to public servants, as well as employees of schools, libraries, museums, concert organizations, theaters, a number of social care organizations, the Matenadaran, the Yerevan Metro, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant and other state institutions, as well as persons awarded the honorary title of People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia.

The Social Package is provided to meet social needs, motivate employees, and enhance the attractiveness and efficiency of employment in the public sector.

Employment relations between an employee and an employer arise based on a written employment contract concluded in accordance with the procedure prescribed by labor legislation or an individual legal act on employment.

An employment contract is an agreement between an employee and an employer under which the employee undertakes to perform certain work for the employer, while the employer undertakes to provide the employee with the work specified in the contract, pay the agreed salary for the work performed, and ensure the working conditions prescribed by law. The contract must specify, among other things, the amount of the basic salary and/or the method for determining it, the working time schedule, the type and duration of annual leave and other relevant conditions.

When an employment contract is terminated, the employer is required to make a full final settlement with the employee on the date of termination, unless the Labor Code, a law regulating the relevant sector or an agreement between the employer and the employee provides for a different procedure for the final settlement.

If the employee is transferred to another position with the same employer or with an employer recognized as its legal successor, no final settlement is made with the employee.

A person is considered unemployed if they are a citizen who is not an old-age pensioner and does not have a job, and who, after registering with the territorial center of the Unified Social Service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs serving their place of residence, has been granted unemployed status.
