Remote work is the performance of an employee’s work duties without being physically present at the employer’s location or at the place where the work is performed, with information and communication technologies. The conditions for performing remote work are established by mutual agreement between the employee and the employer.
Amendments to the Labor Code Introducing Regulations on Remote Work Have Been Adopted
The Law “On Making Amendments to the Labor Code of the Republic of Armenia” establishes regulations on remote work and introduces flexible and modern mechanisms for regulating labor relations.
Accordingly, clear and flexible procedures for organizing work are being introduced, providing employers and employees with options for organizing work under conditions no less favorable than those applicable to work at fixed workplaces, while ensuring compliance with the labor rights and guarantees established for employees.
Conditions that are more favorable are also being created to attract highly qualified specialists to high-productivity sectors. Because of these legislative amendments, the following outcomes are expected:
- increased productivity,
- an increase in the number of highly qualified workers,
- increased business revenues,
- increased state revenues,
- development of information technologies,
- development of an inclusive economy,
- balanced territorial development,
- development of a green economy,
- increased investment.
